Hi Philipp,

I'm using version 1.8 Full.

I'm planning to create a mysql dump file of my board for backup purposes and I've never done this before while the site was live.

Is it recommended to shut the board off using the Admin Control Panel > Other > config > Options > Enable Online Users > OFF setting before doing this.

What happens when Enable Online Users is set to OFF? Does the site disappear and some sort of message appears advising users that we are doing maintenance? Or, does it just disallow people to log in?

"Online Users" will not shut down the site. This setting will only disable the online users stats (e.g. There are currently XX users(s) online) on each page.

There is no need to disable the site during the mysql dump.
